Magreb 1990
Only
some weeks after my return from Tunisia I was already making
new plans about North Africa and was determinated to applicate
the experience gained from the mistakes.
Near
Boulmane du Dades I met a couple from Belgium on there way
to Central Africa, later the same day we picked up another
german biker with the destination South Africa. As we got
closer to the border, we worried about a safe way to get some
undeclared cash into Algeria so we could change it on the
Black Market. At that time you had to declare all your cash,
traveller checks etc and when you left the country, they checked
if everthing was OK. So if you want to change money on the
black market you have to hide it.

So
I put in the frame of my bike (which was rather complicated
to extract later), others put it into their sleepbag and,
well, the german put it into his rectum, considered a secure
place. But the problems started, when we left Marocco and
had to cycle a kilometer or so to the algerian border post,
as our friend became some strange feelings in his stomach.
And when it was his turn to be checked, he had a attack of
diarerha.
